Veterinary Physiotherapy focuses on enhancing the healing process and promoting a quicker return to function, independence, and/or performance. It involves the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal and/or neurological conditions in animals. This approach combines an analysis of the animal's movement with an understanding of the neuro-muscular system's anatomy to identify potential issues.
The findings, alongside the animal's veterinary history, are used to guide treatment. A variety of techniques are then applied, including massage, stretching, range of motion exercises, electrotherapies, and the development of a customised remedial exercise plan. The goal is to restore and maintain normal function, alleviate discomfort and pain, and improve mobility and performance.
